Bumpa Door Surrounds
HELP US INSTALL THE BUMPA DOOR FRAMES ON THE GREAT STUPA
A major decoration project for the Great Stupa is the Bumpa door frames. These massive frames are to be mounted on the four doors on the Bumpa to replicate the Stupa in Gyantse. These frames will be marveled for years to come as they will be a magnificent piece added to the outside decoration of the stupa for all to see.
Sponsors were sought for these door frames back in 2018 and we were honoured to receive 8 sponsors at a total of $25,600. This amount was expected to help in covering our costs as we had a volunteer sculptor from Thailand. However, that sculptor has since left us, and as a result we must now have these frames designed and manufactured in Asia. The new cost to have these 4 x door frames made in Vietnam and installed is $76,241. This is made up of manufacture, painting and shipping, delivery, crane and scaffold hire, artwork materials, support structure and mounting of four frames.
We are seeking 15 additional sponsors at $3200. Each of these sponsors (the existing sponsors and the new) will be memorialised on a plaque within the stupa.
Inspected and approved by Lama Zopa Rinpoche, the door frames have been completed and delivered to the Great Stupa for installation.
