The double dorje (Tibetan) or vajra (Sanskrit) is a powerful symbol in Tibetan Buddhism. The word vajra means thunderbolt, and the vajra symbolises the properties of a diamond (indestructibility) and a thunderbolt (irresistible force).
The vajra cross is also considered an emblem of protection, and represents stability. Often used as a seal or stamp impressed onto the plate at the base of statues that have been filled and consecrated.
